Therapeutic Visitation
Therapeutic visitation is court ordered supervised parenting time that is provided by a mental health professional. These visits are actively guided through interventions by the mental health professional to allow the non-custodial parent and child to re-establish or strengthen their relationship.
Therapeutic visitation differs from standard supervised visitation by including therapeutic support, coaching, and counseling during the visit. During the visit the mental health professional is able to address and work through issues the non-custodial parent and child may have from historical events.
The ultimate goal of therapeutic visitation is to facilitate healing and behavioral change within the parent-child dynamic in a safe environment.
